I have been using a route so I shouldn't have missed any the first time around. So, they do seem to respawn, just slowly and very inconsistently, but I wouldn't swear to it. Might be worth a monthly route but at that point many of us probably won't need the gear anymore since they (at least based on personal and friend experiences) seem to have upped the drop rates somewhat significantly off world bosses and in SoO. I wouldn't be surprised if the current drop rate was closer to 25-30% than 15%, especially for bonus rolls (I've been getting more off rolls than boss drops). Tue this week was especially lucrative, 7 drops from world bosses across 5 toons (20 total chances) and 3 drops from flex on only 2 bosses (4 total chances). 10/24 is ridiculously good. I'll likely never have a day that good again but even my normal days are bringing in more loot than I'm used to seeing.Rnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5003106972062679804.post-53916183424638703352013-09-17T15:19:52.932+01:002013-09-17T15:19:52.932+01:00There might have been a reset with all the Hotfixe...There might have been a reset with all the Hotfixes, probably unintentional that allowed you 2 bites at the moss covered chests.

I assumed originally that they were random spawn like mining nodes. I just did a full island...I have to self-correct... I just did a full island scan on the toon I mentioned above and found zero small chests 5 days after my last scan. So, I have to assume I was mistaken originally and the small ones don't respawn during the week. Or there was a change and while they did respawn after the first day, they stopped at some point since. The latter makes me feel less like I'm losing my mind so I'm going with that theory.Rnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5003106972062679804.post-55805334807163360352013-09-16T21:55:39.154+01:002013-09-16T21:55:39.154+01:00My usual recommendation for people looking for bir...My usual recommendation for people looking for birds is to park on the north edge of the lake in the middle of the island... the birds pass low there (within 25yds, every class I've sent out there has been able to get them... warriors have Heroic Throw (?), rogues have Throw (?)) and that seems to be their spawn point. Griefers killing all the birds is unfortunately a problem, though, I've spent as much as 20 minutes without seeing a bird come by when I've been in other areas looking for them. Part of the problem, though, is that it isn't immediately obvious that a bird is already carrying someone... yes, if you look carefully you can see the player in the beak and the bird not being at 100% health is another indicator but I'd like to see something a lot more obvious. Making them immune to anyone they aren't carrying would be an even better step, though.

Regarding crafting, I have to respectfully disagree with you on that point, during 5.0 only raiders had access to the patterns but in 5.2 and 5.4 the process has been entirely democratized. Kill a few mobs, get a recipe, do a daily crafting cooldown that also gives you a random recipe and once a month you can make an item. I have L87 toons on remote servers that are able to do that, there's absolutely no raid requirement and raiders don't have significantly better access. Really, they don't have any better access unless they're willing to sacrifice a likely very expensive DE mat in exchange for saving a single day of crafting.

My best guess on chests, assuming that the presumed weekly ones are actually weekly, is that there are a combination of one-time-only chests (the big, easy to access ones), weekly chests (ones that require some platforming &/or swimming) and the small chests that seem to have a random respawn timer (I went back the next day on a toon I did all the chests on day one with to confirm the daily chests, they weren't there but a few (but far from all) of the smaller chests were there and I'm 99% sure I looted them on the first day).

I have trouble deciding how to react to any comments about whether this is content or not. I've seen a few too many general chat comments saying roughly "Well, I followed the guide, did the island, now I have nothing to do. Thanks for the "content", Blizz". Is there really a way for Blizzard to create this type of content that will amuse people for more than a day who are willing to go online and follow a guide to "complete" it in a semi-optimal manner? Sure, I followed the guides as well but I did it knowing that I was shortening the lifespan of the island SIGNIFICANTLY for myself. It's hard to run around discovering the secrets when I have a map open on another screen pointing to "Secret #121 - Coords 54.23, 12.55". And even most of a week in, I do still see something new every day, yesterday it was an underwater battle... I stayed through a few rounds, I figure something was eventually going to happen but I had other plans and had to move away. I hadn't seen that before in quite a few island visits.

I ran ToT LFR on the weekend with a buddy and the queue lengths were reasonable and the groups were as expected (one was borderline exceptional by LFR standards, one was absolutely typical (half decent, half moron with a couple of first-timers but bosses fell over regardless)). It doesn't look like the island has gutted previous content at all, at least based on that limited data point. Plus, folks still need weapons, I'm hoping some of us have enough pride not to do SoO LFR in all i496+ and the i450 arena scenario weapon.Rnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5003106972062679804.post-41548737784588427002013-09-16T15:47:31.277+01:002013-09-16T15:47:31.277+01:00I tried Judgement, Exorcism and Hammer of Wrath, a...I tried Judgement, Exorcism and Hammer of Wrath, all 3 were out of range.
