Well, I have to disagree with you. ...@TheGrumpyElf

Well, I have to disagree with you. As a Vanilla WoW player that adored the game, played darned near nightly into Cataclysm, and quit in disgust at all the changes, one of the things I miss the most is the sense of "living in a complex world." I really enjoyed finding where things were, and discovering some sheltered spot that most people missed. Getting lost was part of the fun, but mastering the complexity was the biggest thing. The highly structured, relentlessly linear design that is favored now just doesn't interest me at all. So... yes! I miss getting lost in Blackrock Depths. I miss even more being the person that could guide a group through there.jonreecehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18384146710365926074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5003106972062679804.post-27806192547373620872014-07-21T16:49:15.634+01:002014-07-21T16:49:15.634+01:00It is nice to hear what people say seeing it throu...It is nice to hear what people say seeing it through fresh eyes. That matters a lot. I agree with his assessment and yours, movement as a time consuming factor, and that is horrible and can lose many people As an experience player I know where everything is which does help but when I was new it would take me a year and a day to get from point A to point B because I got lost, ran into a mountain I did not know how to climb and needed to go around, or ran into other obstacles.

I am experiencing that with wildstar now and it is the one thing I must say I hate the most. I do not mind questing, do not mind lots of them, do not even mind they are all over the place. But I hate, repeat hate, with a blinding passion having to travel from place to place and it taking forever to do so when you do not know all the short cuts, and then taking forever even if you do because you are on foot or even on a slow mount.

As much as it might get me flamed I think we should have mounts at level one. Should have flying mounts shortly after. Travel is NOT compelling game play and if anything it would not surprise me if most games of the type lose players in that first play sitting where it takes them too long to get somewhere, or if they get lost and never find it and just give up trying to look. Travel needs to be made easier. Keep content hard, keep travel easy, and you will find a winning medium.TheGrumpyElfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07621615711198405365noreply@blogger.com
